Port of Blyth is regarded as one of the UK's leading offshore energy support bases with a strategic central location on the east coast of the UK, well placed for offshore energy related opportunities in the North Sea.
The Port is a trusted partner of some of the world’s leading offshore energy focused companies with significant experience of handling and storing large and complex lifts is extensive covering onshore and offshore wind turbine components, umbilicals, flow-lines, cables, ROVs, subsea ploughs, A-Frames, carousels and tower lay systems.
Fellow exhibitor and decommissioning partner Thompsons of Prudhoe is a specialist deconstruction, decommissioning, dismantling, demolition, asbestos removal, decontamination and waste disposal contractor operating across the UK.
In 2018, Port of Blyth was granted a licence from the Environment Agency to provide offshore decommissioning services. Located on a dedicated 2.3 hectare site at our Battleship Wharf terminal, our decommissioning facilities are licensed for capacity up to 50,000 tonnes per annum, on a site featuring an impermeable heavy duty concrete base and quarantined areas for hazardous waste including NORM.
In 2020, this offering was strengthened when Port of Blyth and Thompsons of Prudhoe announced an exciting partnership based on quality, safety and performance that will enhance UK offshore decommissioning capability, providing customers with a highly experienced and dedicated service.
